Mississauga, Ontario: Trong hôm chúa nhật ngày 1 tháng hai năm 2015, thủ tướng Canada, ông Stephen Harper, đã dẫn đầu một phái đoàn gồm nhiều các tổng bộ trưởng đến tham dự hội chợ tết “40 năm viễn xứ” do hội người Việt Toronto, phối hợp cùng các hội đoàn, tổ chức tại International Center ở thành phố Mississauga, tỉnh bang Ontario.
Trong số các quan khách tham dự, ngoài thủ tướng Harper, còn có ông Jason Kenney, tổng trưởng nhân lực và phát triển xã hội kiêm tổng trưởng đa văn hóa, và thượng nghị sĩ Ngô Thanh Hải.
Trong bài diễn văn , thủ tướng đã dùng ba ngôn ngữ, Anh, Pháp và Việt ( câu “chúc mừng năm mới”), để nói chuyện với khán giả. Ông cũng nhắc đến những nỗ lực của thượng nghị sĩ Ngô Thanh Hải và nội các đảng Bảo Thủ về việc đề cử ngày 30 tháng tư là ngày “hành trình đi tìm tự do”, ngày mà miền Nam Việt Nam rơi vào tay cộng sản, khiến hàng trăm ngàn người Việt phải bỏ nước ra đi tìm tự do.Ông cũng nói đến sự thành công và đóng góp của cộng đồng người Việt trên xứ “đất lạnh tình nồng”.
Thủ tướng Harper cũng đã từng đến tham dự hội chợ tết của cộng đồng người Việt ở Toronto vào năm 2013.
Theo những ước lượng có khoảng trên dưới 10 ngàn người tham dự hội chợ tết Toronto năm nay, đông hơn năm ngoái. Cũng theo những tin tức của hội người Việt Toronto thì năm nay số vé vào cửa đã bán hết.
Phần văn nghệ năm nay cũng rất đặc sắc với các ca sĩ Bằng Kiều, Tóc Tiên, Minh Tuyết, Đan Nguyên, ban nhạc Liberty và MC Việt Thảo. Ngoài ra còn có phần trình diễn của các ca sĩ và ban nhạc địa phương như Nhóm Hùng Sử Việt Michigan, đoàn lân Liên Thắng.. Có những phần trình diễn trang phục cổ truyền của những nhóm dân tộc thiểu số ở Việt Nam.
Số hàng quán thương mại và thực phẩm, cũng như các gian hàng của các hội đoàn từ thiện cũng thấy rất đông đảo người đến.
Người ta cũng thấy có rất đông những người trẻ tham dự hội chợ Tết năm nay, và đây là một niềm phấn khởi và hy vọng của cộng đồng, vì truyền thống Tết hàng năm chắc sẽ còn tiếp tục được duy trì.

Introduction
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today participated in a special event celebrating the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, also known as Tết. The celebration, hosted by the Vietnamese Association of Toronto, took place at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The Prime Minister was joined by Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development and Minister for Multiculturalism, and Senator Thanh Hai Ngo, who is the first Canadian Senator of Vietnamese descent.
During the celebration, the Prime Minister delivered a speech in which he highlighted the many contributions of the Vietnamese-Canadian community to our great country.
The Vietnamese Lunar New Year is a time to gather with family and friends to reflect on the year that has just passed, and to look forward in anticipation of all that the year ahead may bring. In 2015, Tết officially begins on February 19, and marks the start of the year of the goat.

Le Premier ministre Stephen Harper a aujourd’hui participé à une activité de célébration du Nouvel An lunaire vietnamien, qu’on appelle également le Têt. La célébration, organisée par la Vietnamese Association of Toronto, s’est tenue à l’International Centre de Mississauga, en Ontario. Le Premier ministre était accompagné de Jason Kenney, ministre de l’Emploi et du Développement social et ministre du Multiculturalisme, et du sénateur Thanh Hai Ngo, qui est le premier sénateur canadien d’origine vietnamienne.

Le Nouvel An lunaire vietnamien est un moment où familles et amis se rassemblent pour réfléchir à l’année qui vient de se terminer et pour se tourner avec optimisme vers tout ce que la nouvelle année pourrait apporter. En 2015, le Têt commence officiellement le 19 février et marque le début de l’année de la chèvre.
