 Today, Senator Thanh Hai Ngo issued the following Statement in response to the sham elections –  to select a ‘rubber-stamp’ legislature  –  that took place in Vietnam on Sunday, May 23, 2021:

 Vietnam held elections to determine the members that would constitute its 15^th National Assembly, as well as the People’s Councils at the local level on May 23^rd. Elections in Vietnam are undoubtedly of a purely ceremonial nature and only serve the Vietnam Communist Party’s (VCP) interests in maintaining their despotic rule over the people of Vietnam. Key leadership positions as well as the overall composition of the National Assembly are determined several weeks in advance.

Today, Senator Thanh Hai Ngo issued the following Statement in response to the arrest of prominent pro-democracy activist Nguyen Thuy Hanh on April 7^th and the Vietnam communist regime’s continued and relentless persecution against prisoners of conscience:

Mrs. Nguyen Thuy Hanh is among the latest human rights defenders arrested under the regime’s go-to penalty for dissidents – Article 117 of Vietnam’s Criminal Code, the allegation of “conducting anti-state propaganda”. A group of about 30 police officers (according to eye-witness accounts) were sent to her home, where she was apprehended, on April 7^th. Continue reading →

Ngày 10 tháng 12 lại sắp đến. Mỗi năm vào ngày này, mọi người khắp nơi trên thế giới đều cùng nhau cổ võ cho quyền căn bản của con người, nâng cao nhân phẩm không chấp nhận việc thế lực gian ác lộng hành. Các nhóm đều tổ chức các sinh hoạt để kỷ niệm ngày Quốc tế Nhân Quyền này. Cộng đồng Việt Nam tại hải ngoại dù bé nhỏ vẫn luôn hưởng ứng, hoặc là tổ chức hội thảo, hoặc là biểu tình để lên tiếng ủng hộ đặc biệt cho nhân quyền Việt Nam. Năm nay 2020 do đại dịch Covid 19, mọi người phải đóng cửa nằm nhà để tránh lây lan, rất nhiều sinh hoạt bị ngưng trệ. Thế nhưng việc đàn áp trù dập những người dám lên tiếng cho Công lý Hòa Bình vẫn luôn tiếp tục. Con vi trùng Covid không làm tê liệt được những hành động vi phạm Nhân Quyền này.
